The field "Format" is greyed out under the "Hard disk" tab

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie in regard to Proxmox.

I have converted the OVA file to qcow2 format and intended to open it under the "Hard disk" tab
during the creation of a new VM.

The issue here is the field "Format" is being greyed out hence i could not select the converted file .

Could someone enlighten me why is it greyed out? Is it due to my installation of Proxmox is not under subscription yet?

When this is an 4.2 Default installation then it is normal. Then the new default is LVM = RAW. So you can't change the format in the default storage (lvm thin). If you would like to use qcow2 you must add another storage or delete the local storage and add it as normal folder.

The other way is... you can install easy and PVE 4.1 and update to 4.2. The 4.1 setup add the local storage for qcow2.

But better to use the new LVM Thin storage.
