I am trying to make a compressed backup of a KVM (win2008 64bit) with the vzdump command. The vm has two discs oen of 24GB (C:) and one of 32GB (D:).
However the backup causes the system to shutdown.

today I got later on an email with the following error message:
"
103: May 31 15:20:40 INFO: Starting Backup of VM 103 (qemu)
103: May 31 15:20:40 INFO: status = stopped
103: May 31 15:20:40 INFO: creating archive '/backup/vzdump-103.dat' (/var/lib/vz/images/103)
103: May 31 15:20:40 INFO: qemu-server.conf
103: May 31 15:20:40 INFO: vm-103-disk-1.qcow2
103: May 31 15:20:41 ERROR: Backup of VM 103 failed - interrupted by signal
"

I am wondering how this message could be send, because I had to power on the
system, so there should be a queue of messages.

I am now trying to do a vzdump without the compressed option,
but this takes some more time.
Is anything know with vzdump as a problem?
The server is an AMD Athlon X2 processor type, on a Pentium D the compressed backup worked
on a Windows XP VM (with just one small disk 8GB).

I will report back if the backup without compression works or also failed.
I have not found any errors in the /var/log directory (the logfiles)

The vzdump without compression (gzip) worked... it was 43GB. oh yeah, the kvm windows 2008 vm was stopped now and with the compression it was running.. perhaps this is an issue?
