Attempting to setup a sync job between on server storage and USB drive. I have the portable drive mounted and configured as ext4 as is the storage drive on the server. Configured the sync job for a pull from the server to the portable drive. Test run generates the following error on all VM's.

sync group vm/100 failed - group lock failed: Input/output error (os error 5)
create_locked_backup_group failed

From logs I get this;
Jan 25 11:57:38 pbs proxmox-backup-proxy[942898]: GET //api2/json/backup?backup-id=100&backup-time=1735455604&backup-type=vm&benchmark=false&debug=false&store=ExtStore1: 400 Bad Request: [client [::ffff:127.0.0.1]:38242] Input/output error (os error 5)
Jan 25 11:57:38 pbs proxmox-backup-proxy[942898]: Failed to get owner of group 'vm/101' in datastore 'ExtStore1', root namespace - unable to read "/mnt/extdrv1/vm/101/owner" - No such file or directory (os error 2)
Jan 25 11:57:38 pbs proxmox-backup-proxy[942898]: GET //api2/json/backup?backup-id=101

The sync job is configured as shown below;

Thanks for any help or need more information let me know.

How are both datastores set up? It seems either the extdrv1 is not mounted, or maybe pbs can't write to it.. but you'd have had an error before the sync job...
what does findmnt -u/mnt/extdrv1 tell you? what about ls -al /mnt/extdrive1/ ?

findmnt -u /mnt/extdrv1 results;

TARGET SOURCE FSTYPE OPTIONS
/mnt/extdrv1 /dev/sdc1 ext4 rw,relatime

ls-al /mnt/extdriv1
ls: /mnt/extdrv1/: Input/output error
ls: /mnt/extdrv1/lost+found: Input/output error
ls: /mnt/extdrv1/.: Input/output error
ls: /mnt/extdrv1/.chunks: Input/output error
ls: /mnt/extdrv1/.lock: Input/output error
total 1056
drwxr-xr-x 4 backup backup 4096 Jan 24 21:54 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Jan 24 21:50 ..
drwxr-x--- 1 backup backup 1052672 Jan 24 22:02 .chunks
-rw-r--r-- 1 backup backup 0 Jan 24 21:54 .lock
drwx------ 2 root root 16384 Jan 24 21:34 lost+foun

It would also be helpful to know if /mnt/extdrv1/vm/101/ exists and whether it is empty.
ls /mnt/extdrv1/
lost+found

Not sure how to proceed with the information provided, this a permissions error?
