Hi there,

i run proxmox on an old laptop. As storage i use a consumer grade 1TB Crucial MX500 SATA SSD. Now i have a free spare 960GB Sam PM863 from my workstation, which i put in the optical bay as 2nd drive.

The MX500 SMART vaules still look very good, but i'm thinking about making the enterprise grade PM863 the system drive and use the MX500 for media storage.
Would you do the swap or keep it like this, since the MX500 is doing fine?

And if yes, what would be the best way to make the swap? Just clone and put the Samsung into the first bay and put the MX500 in optical bay?

Why complicate your life if things are working fine? Leave the OS on the MX500 and just setup the new PM863 as storage.

Just make sure you are doing regular backups.
