im playing with some old hardware to see if i can get a functional home server and have run into a dead end of sorts. Supermicro x10sra mb with a SAS-743TQ backplane, got it configured with a small SATA drive just fine but it doesnt see anything when i plug a sas drive in. now it seems like the backplane firmware isnt actually communicating with pve at all so none of the SAS drives i have show up at all. any idea how to get the backplane to communicate with pve? or any other solutions folks might recommend?
in 'lspci -nn' i see my mb's sata controller but no backplane firmware and none of the drive tools i know show anything (ive retried with the sata drive, it still works fine), really confused as to why the sata drives work but not the sas?
