Hello
Currently I have two servers, a r620 and r720, both the SAS 2.5" variety. The r620 is using hw raid and the r720 is using zfs (raidz2). Both are running proxmox as the hypervisor. I'd like to convert the r620 to raidz2 without losing data.
Are these my options for the above:
1. Move the r620 data (hw raid) to my r720 (sw raid), uninstall proxmox on the r620 and reinstall proxmox, configure in raidz2 and then move the files back from the r720 to the r620
2. Create a new server (see below) to move the r620 data to, then uninstall, reinstall, configure for raidz2 on the r620 and move data back.
3. (Undesirable). Nuke the r620 and start over.
Related to #2 above - for a backup server i planned on culling some old parts together and building a back up server in a cheap Norco chassis. But originally I had planned on using different sizes of 3.5" drives I've collected over the years, so this means I can't use zfs right? If that is correct can I back up proxmox zfs storage to a not zfs backup?
What other options have I not considered? If any.
