Hi,

To start, some specs:

Host HW:
i7-4790 32GB, SSD disks

Guest settings:
Windows Server 2012 R2
VirtIO Disk and network drivers

args: -soundhw hda
balloon: 0
bootdisk: virtio0
cores: 2
ide0: none,media=cdrom
ide2: none,media=cdrom
memory: 5120
name: audiovm
net0: virtio=02:00:00:c9:f2:5a,bridge=vmbr0
numa: 0
onboot: 1
ostype: win8
scsihw: virtio-scsi-pci
smbios1: uuid=4df5a6ae-d2a6-4565-89bb-aaa839903b44
sockets: 2
tablet: 0
vga: std
virtio0: local:103/vm-103-disk-1.raw,size=25G

This is not something that just started, but rather always was, thus we never used virtualization (Proxmox) for these kind of work. But since we need to start a new project, we want to do this on Proxmox VM's. We are using audio applications (it could even well be Winamp) to stream audio with encoders to the internet. Whereas all these things go very well on barebone servers, we are not able to get any good audio on the internet from a VM. The audio is choppy and it ticks and stutters every 10 secs. We've been playing with buffers and counts but it would'nt help and maybe even get worse. We checked to see if it could be the software, but we changed that, even used the smallest setup to stream.

Looking on this forum, I saw some other people using Proxmox to stream locally, but that's mostly with passthrough devices, but we are using virtual audio devices. I passed the 'soundhw' argument, and it looks like it's a LITTLE better than without the arg, but it's not how we want it.

Are there any tweaks available we can use to get this better or can we check some things? I believe it has something to do with the samping frequency, but I can't be sure. The software we use has an audio device test, and when we run that, the 'jitter' goes to > 100% for 1 sec every xx seconds and that's when the bleeps come in. The rest of the time, it's mostly at 6%.
