Storage Questions

I have five drives in my proxmox host:
  • 80GB velociraptor
  • 248GB SSD
  • 250GB SSD
  • 1.5 TB hd
  • 2.0 TB hd
Currently, I have proxmox installed on the 80GB velociraptor. I have the two ssd drives in a VG named ssd that I am using as LVM local storage. I have the two hds in a VG named storage that I am also using as LVM storage. My plan is to use the ssd group for guests and the storage group as secondary drives that guests can use as storage.

My goal is to have one main guest that is setup for passthrough to use as my main machine. I would like to have other guests to use as a test lab, and one or two guests to host actual services like freenas, mumble, pfsense.

Is this a good setup, or should I arrange my disks differently?
Is there a benefit to using LVM local storage instead of extending out the data LV and using that instead?
Is there a way to optimally incorporate redundancy with this setup?
If I do use LVM local storage, is there a way to take vm snapshots?
