Hi everyone,
I do have a question connected to the installation and setup of my available SSD's in terms of performance.

I do have 1 SSD connected via SATA and 1 M.2/M-Key (https://geizhals.eu/pny-xlr8-cs3030-m-2-nvme-ssd-2tb-m280cs3030-2tb-rb-a2035804.html) connected via PCIE Card (https://geizhals.eu/raidsonic-icy-box-ib-pci208-pci-express-card-1x-internal-m-2-60092-a1561901.html) and I was wondering how I should do the setup.

I would have setup the SATA SSD to be the OS drive, and the M2 SSD to be for the virtual machines only. The target is to get the best performance out of the VM's. So is my proposed setup the best one, or should I do it different? (eg remove the SATA SSD and only use the M2)?

Thanks a lot,
BR

hey,
the setup you suggested should be ideal, because the main io for the vm happens on its disk and not on the disk for the host. In theory, only using the m.2 should be slower because you take away bandwidth that could be used for the vm
