SSD drive dead?

Hi,
this issue is not purely Proxmox related:
I try to initialize a SSD, however I get this error
Task viewer: Disk sda - Initialize Disk with GPT

Error reading device /dev/sda at 0 length 512.

then I tried

fdisk: cannot open /dev/sda: Input/output error
then I tried to change SATA ports, no change.
then I tried via external USB enclosure, which was not possible (timeout trying to connect)

Is there any other tool / repair possible? I would be happy, if there is still a chance to get this drive to work properly.
Fortunately there is no relevant data on the drive.
 
I would never build a relationship of trust with this part.
Tried it with a different operating system or other Hardware?
 
SMART data is usually pretty useless/unintelligible/incorrect - but based on:
9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 090 090 000 Old_age Always - 49143
let's assume that means 49143 Power On Hours
12 Power_Cycle_Count 0x0032 099 099 000 Old_age Always - 32
let's assume that means 32 power cycles

So its been sitting in a server for 5.61 years - time for it to be declared e-waste!

and 512 Bytes sector size is not even 282 TB written. The TBW for this model is 5466 TB. Should be far away from being wasted...
