Sound of GPU passthrough VM

Hi everybody!

I have a VM with GPU passthrough and it's working fine, except one thing: sound.
First I've tried to passthrough the sound device of the host, but the sound the VM produced this way was horrible.
The current setup is ALSA on the host (and with aplay I can play wav files flawlessly) and

args: -soundhw hda

in the VM's conf.
The sound this way is recognizable, but with a horrendous noise (which is like Autobots making love...).

I'm open to any suggestions.

Just an update: with Linux guests, the sound is perfect, only Windows guests are affected

I managed to make it work on Win7 with

-soundhw ac97

I had to download the AC97 driver from Realtek.
So far I couldn't find a driver that installs on Win10.
