Are there any plans to configure SMART monitoring through the web interface? I think this would be helpful, to get some warning when a hard drive is having problems. FreeNAS has this capability it might serve as an example.

As most of the people here are using Proxmox for professional use and are therefore using some sort of hardware-storage-controller, I don't think this will be an option. Because AFAIK all of the hardware-raid-controllers have an own interface or management-tool in which you can monitor the status of disk-arrays and their members.

While that is true, you can use smartctl from the smartmontools package to check the health of individual drives behind the controller by using the -d <devicename> parameter.

Check 'man smartctl' for a full list of supported controllers and how to access SMART info from each drive.

Thanks for the info ;)
