Hi,

On the GUI, I'm able unable to see SMART status of some of our drives. Some of them show as "PASSED", but sometimes USB drives show as "UNKNOWN":

What I see is that for drives that show their status on the GUI, I can see SMART status on shell via "smartctl -a /dev/sdX".

However, for drives showed as "UNKNOWN" on the GUI I can see SMART status on shell via "smartctl -a -d sat /dev/sdX".

Here is the output for /dev/sdg (it shows as UNKNOWN on the screenshot):

Code:
root@srv1-XXX:~# smartctl -a -d sat /dev/sdg
smartctl 6.6 2016-05-31 r4324 [x86_64-linux-4.15.18-10-pve] (local build)

Any ideas?

Thank you

However, for drives showed as "UNKNOWN" on the GUI I can see SMART status on shell via "smartctl -a -d sat /dev/sdX".
make sense, that when you give it the correct type that you can read it

the problem is that smartctl cannot autodetect it, and we do not set the type manually

not for our gui, no

Same here: If I click on "show S.M.A.R.T. values" on GUI I got:

Error getting S.M.A.R.T. data: Exit code: 1 (500)

Is it planned to expand the GUI ability to support the device scanning by 'smartctl' with different types?
If not (yet), can you may point out the file we have to edit manually, so that 'smartctl' is using '-d sat' when clicking the button?

Thanks

it is not planned, but you can make an enhancement request on our bugzilla https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/

i could imagine some (optional) config file that maps a disk to smartctl options or something similar

this would be Diskmanage.pm i believe in /usr/share/perl5/PVE

but this will be overwritten on each update if you change it
