Recently my single PVE home lab server died. For whatever reason, I never got around to doing backups of my VM's. Not a huge deal, it's a learning lab machine so I didn't lose anything important. I rebuilt my home lab server and started backing up my VM's to a synology NAS. The question I have is, if I lost my server again, when I rebuild it and attache the NAS would Proxmox see the backups from the old server in a way I can do a restore or does Proxmox not see them because they were not backed up with the current server? I am utilizing the backup scheduler within Proxmox to do the backups. I eventually will do a HA setup but that's down the road.

Thanks in advance....

Hey,

yes, when adding the storage on the new PVE host and marking it as a "VZ Dump" location backups will show up the same way they did on your old PVE host. You can give this a try by installing PVE in a VM and adding the NFS share there.
