Shared storage / iSCSI / What would work great?

Building my first PROXMOX cluster, and I have the compute nodes covered. Plenty of CPU+RAM+NICs

What I need now is some sort of shared storage. I have a FreeNAS and could probably carve iSCSI targets out of that and give them to PROXMOX.

If I were to shell out for a shared three-node cluster device, what would be optimal for PROXMOX?

Suggestions welcomed, budget mostly spent already on CPU+RAM.

Ceph on PVE or the storage replication with ZFS would be some possible option. Then for example your FreeNAS could be used for backups, ISOs and templates. https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pvesm.html
