shared i210 NIC vs i350-T4

Hi,

I currently have 2 VM's (windows and a ubuntu), one streams live TV (dvb-s2 dual, so decent bandwidth x2) and a file server (movies etc.) and I'm wondering if getting a i350-T4 (or cheaper if there's one with proper IOMMU isolation) and giving each VM its own proper NIC.

I assume there must be a performance hit of sorts when sharing a single NIC amongst the VM's (soon to be 3 off).

Would be grateful for any thoughts on the matter.

Thanks

Neil

With hardware pass through, you gain the offloading from the NIC and reduce CPU and you would have a dedicated 1GbE. But you need to test if it makes a big difference with your setup.
