Hi,

I have some temporary folders on multiple vm what i'll like to mutualize in one virtual drive. As i'm totally new to SAN/NAS storage, it could be great to have advices from the community for how to do that.
As far as i can read, it could be done by creating a virtual disk in raw format and use a shared FS (like OCFS2) inside it and then manually link the drive to each VM.
Do you see any problem in doing it in such way ?
FYI, the virtual drive will be stored on a ext4 partition (/pve/data) on a SSD Drive and not backuped.

Thanks in advance for your help !

Hi,
I tested GFS2 with a setup like described by you, had 3 VMs with a system disk each and one shared, didn't run into any problems but the tests where for sure not complete. So OCFS2 should be working also.
I don't really remember how good the performance was, but with a SSD it shouldn't be bad.

Note that if you run PVE3.X in combination with the 2.6.32 kernel you may run into problems with GFS2 (kernel bug), the 3.10 kernel under PVE3.4 and PVE4.0 works, at least what I tested.

Thanks to both of you !
I will have a look to make a virtual drive with GFS2 !
