RTL8125 native support

Hi guys,

i'm currenlty run PVE 7.2 with kernel 5.15.39-4 and realtek-r8125-dkms-9.009.02-1, but i've big issue when the NIC works @2.5Gbit/s.

Traffic is dropped and capped below 200Mbit/s.

Anyone is using the NIC with r8169 stock kernel @2.5Gbit/s without any issue?

You could try to opt into kernel 5.19 [0]. Maybe the newer kernel supports it (better)?

Note that there was a pve-firmware package update recently that added a few rtl FW file/version, improving the FW support situation of the 5.19 kernel, it's available on pvetest and no-subscription repos at time of writing.

Maybe you could first try to update to pve-firmware in version 3.5-4, or newer (don't forget to reboot), before going the external module route.

I’ve tried to use stock r8169 on 5.15, but looks like VLAN is not working. Is the r8169 compiled with VLAN support on PVE kernel?

Actually having this issue now.... might have to switch back to my 1gb NIC...

Will keep this thread updated if I find a fix
