I have to install a new Debian server. As I would like to use ZFS even for the boot partition, PVE ISO makes this very very easy (just install and i'm ready to go with ZFS)

I don't need proxmox on this server, would be possible, after a clean PVE install, to totally remove PVE and then rename the "pve-1" pool ? I don't need "data" pool, so I can safely remove that, but what about /ROOT/pve-1 ?

Pool renaming works only with export -> import, so it may work on a zfs raid1. While you can remove pve packages, you would also need to install supplements, eg. different kernel. A cleaner approach might be to go by this guide and do a image of the disks afterwards.

Solved by keeping PVE install and by adding the needed packages (it's a backup server, thus: backuppc, rsnapshot, rsync and so on)
