Hi,

I just installed Proxmox on a newly built PC and I'm able to use it as expected. I'm having hard time enabling remote access so I can access the web interface from outside of home. I already installed noip on my box and I'm able to SSH into it using port forwarding. I tried setting up port forwarding to port 8006 and I used VNC viewer on my iphone, but I'm unable to connect from home or outside.

Anyone can guide my through this? I'm also thinking that the HTTPS is an obstacle that I need to address so I can setup the forwarding correct.

Regards,

Hi,

port 8006 is for the Gui, you have to connect by a Browser and not a VNC client.

For full management access you need to forward all of these:

  • Web interface: 8006/tcp
  • VNC Web console: 5900-5999/tcp
  • SPICE console: 3128/tcp

VNC port is chosen by PVE within that range. For full compatibility you really need 5900-5999.

Also, VNC ports are open only when specifically requested for specific VM from Web interface, the API or PVE console.
