We are trying to optimize a KVM qm VM by using two assigned thin provisioned disks, one of which we'll not be included in the regular backups so we can speed them up and reduce required space.
For this to work we need the KVM to either be able to boot without it, as when we restore the backup the second disk does not get configured, or to have a manual procedure to restore a plain copy of the empty formated disk. In order to do that we would need to first backup "manually" that lvm-thin disk and then be able to restore it.
I am wondering if someone can assist with the recommended procedure for that.
Alternatively, anyway that one can choose when to ignore or not the "backup" label on the storage definition, when executing cron backups? This way we could just do one every week and then transfer ownership of the disk after restoring.
Thaks
