Rebuilding pve need help

I had a catastrophic failure of my pve and had to reformat the main disk and reload. I have all my vms back up and running save 1. It's a truenas core vm (I need core for a specific reason). I had created a storage pool on a 2tb hdd that is on the pve. I can see the drive listed under vm disks on the drive. I have recreated the vm (I must not have backed that one up) and now I need to know how do I attach the hdd image in qcow2 format back to this vm without formatting it?

how did you have config your data disk for truenas before our big crash? Virtual disk? passtrough disk ?
