Rebuild server setup

Hello,

currently we have 3 proxmoxservers running on 1.3 clustered in a school.
One of them is a RAID 50 server with 1,75 TB storage
The two other servers only have a raid 0/1, with both disks 160 Gb.
Each server has is own VM's running, with disk images as qcow2 files.

Now with the upcoming release of 1.4 we would love to update to the new LVM storage model, as all files will not be stored in one big file, but as seperate files in the lvm.

Our plan is to store all VM data in lvm on the RAID 50 (perhaps better raid 10?) server, and redirect the two cluster nodes to the storage on the main server.

What's the best approach to startup the migration, and what's the best setup for the data machine?
(I now I'll have to start converting all qcow2 files to .raw files..)

Is it OK to install proxmox as the base OS on the master server?
Should I export the datadirectory with iSCSI or NFS? And any info how it should be done? And which of both has the best speed?
Or is the datadirectory immediatly available to the other nodes?

All servers have 1Gb connections to the main Gigabit switch for their communication.

Any input would be gratefuly apprectiated.

Kindly regards
