Arnaud

The (current) manual has some examples for running backups (of one or all VM/CTs) to a specific folder: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#_examples_10 .
Since PVE 5.1 is so incredibly out of support, I did not go through the trouble of finding the old manual. I expect that the file-based vzdump backups can be restored on a recent Proxmox without too much trouble. But still, best to not delete the VM/CTs before testing the restores on the new system.
Mounting a USB drive on the Linux system is not specific to Proxmox and there are lots of guides on the internet.

Thank you, I've taken note of the English language option.

I've tried several tutorials for mounting a USB drive, but when installing the package, I get an error like this:

Code:
root@proxmox:~# apt-get update
Ign:1 http://security.debian.org stretch/updates InRelease
Err:2 http://security.debian.org stretch/updates Release
  404  Not Found [IP: 2a04:4e42:1d::644 80]
Ign:3 http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian stretch InRelease

Well, as you've probably gathered, I'm starting from scratch when it comes to using Proxmox and Linux in general...
