Hi to all

I need to know this:

Within this scenario:
- I have three identical Hosts (with the same processors)
- I have installed the latest version of PVE and updated (11/07/2012)
- I have PVE Cluster and enabled live migration and HA
- VMs installed with KVM and CT

Qiestions:
1- Is stable QEMU with the option "host" enabled?
2- QEMU with the option "host" enabled works stably in production environments and ready for live migration?

Less important question:
3- In what Internet link I can find a comparison chart of processor emulations "QEMU" with the physical processors?

I will be extremely grateful to anyone who can dispel any of these doubts

Best regards
Cesar

I have had no issues with using "host" as the processor type for quite some time now.

Thanks adamb for your answer

I want to use it with Win 2008R2, Symantec EP and MS-SQL Server with 100 Gb of data base, then i want to ask you:

1- what system operating are you using and what heavy applications?, and
2- How many time are working without restart anything?

Best regards
Cesar

for live migration, if you use host, you need to have same cpus in yours hosts.

(no live migration between intel and amd by example), maybe differents generation of intel will work, but you really need to test it.

host is just exposing all features of the processor, qemu64 restricts special processor features (sse2,sse3,...) to the minimum compatible.

Thanls spirit for your answer, i know that the flags in the proccessor must be same, But I read somewhere that QEMU with the option "host" enabled had a bug, and not sure if this is solved currently, that's why I make these consultations:

1- what system operating are you using and what heavy applications?, and
2- How many time are working without restart anything?
3- Using KVM or CT or both

Best regards
Cesar
