PVE7 / PBS3 - Backup Timeout (qmp command xxx failed - got timeout)

Hi guys, I have a problem with backups failing due to timeout errors "qmp command 'cont' failed - got timeout" and "qmp command 'backup' failed - got timeout". I've seen different threads with this problem and tried increase timeout in /usr/share/perl5/PVE/QMPClient.pm from 5 to 30s and restarted services but nothing seems to change.

Is there anything else I can try or should I increase it even more?

I'm quite new with Proxmox if any additional information is needed please ask.
 
Can you post the config of an affected VM?

This problem is usually cause by slow storage on the PBS - how does the IO Delay look like on the PBS during the backups? How is the storage configured there? Is the PBS on-site or off-site?
