Hello,
I have a strange networking issue on my Proxmox VE host that I cannot solve.
Setup:
The Problem:I am trying to add the PBS as a storage in the PVE Web UI, but the connection fails. The PVE host cannot connect to the PBS VM on port 8007.
Diagnostics I have performed:
Conclusion:The PBS service is running correctly inside the VM and listening on port 8007. The PVE host has basic network connectivity to the VM's IP. However, something on the PVE host itself seems to be blocking the TCP connection to port 8007 on the VM.
Can anyone help me diagnose this issue with the vmbr0 bridge or the host's networking stack?
Thank you.
I have a strange networking issue on my Proxmox VE host that I cannot solve.
Setup:
- Proxmox VE Host IP: 192.168.188.99
- I have a new VM (ID 111) with Proxmox Backup Server installed. Its IP is 192.168.188.111.
- Both the host and the VM are connected to the same vmbr0 bridge.
The Problem:I am trying to add the PBS as a storage in the PVE Web UI, but the connection fails. The PVE host cannot connect to the PBS VM on port 8007.
Diagnostics I have performed:
- From the PVE host, I can successfully ping 192.168.188.111.
- From the PVE host, running nc -znv 192.168.188.111 8007 fails with a connection timeout.
- The PVE host firewall is disabled (pve-firewall status shows Status: disabled/running).
- Inside the PBS VM, there is no active firewall (pve-firewall and ufw are not running).
- From inside the PBS VM, running nc -znv 127.0.0.1 8007 succeeds with the message (UNKNOWN) [127.0.0.1] 8007 (?) open.
Thank you.
