Dear Proxmox Team,
I just tried to install a phresh PVE host from the 9.1-1.iso downloaded from here and stored on a ventoy stick (E2B or similar) on which I keep all my OS images.
That didn't work out...
I remember the day when it wasn't possible to install PVE from a USB Stick (which now fortunately works - just did it w. PVE 9.1-1 :°) and would like to propose for future versions, to make it possible to be installed it from the image file.
If it already IS possible and i missed something, pls. reply, thanks.
Thanks & keep up the great work :)
~R.

Try something else than Ventoy (as it is also know to cause problems) to create the USB: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#installation_prepare_media
As I wrote, that is exactly what I did (and do since years w. proxmox): simply "burn" the .iso to a USB stick :)
But it would be a nice feature to be able to boot the proxmox installer from the file, just like it works w. all other distros I tried, like Debian, Ubuntu, fedora, manjaro, mint, you name it.
Just not to need a separate stick for each and every distro, but just ONE stick or ext. HD w. e.g. ventoy or E2B that contains ALL the .iso one collects over time :)

Hi,

Why not just using hardware that provides this kind of option ?

Like IODD ST400 for example ?

Best regards,
