greetings, I have to re-install a PVE ( as the boot ssd drives are failing, and the cost of replacing with enterprise grade ssd is prohibitive at the moment. I have a couple of 2 tb enterprise sata drives. I am curious what I can use the excess space for ? I understand it shouldn't be used for data or vm's in a production environment. There will be about 1tb excess space , I was thinking of using it for storage of backed up vms . Good idea or do you have a good suggestion ?
thank you

PVE only needs 8 GiB, so you'll have more than 1.9 TB remaining. You can use it for ISOs and templates and other "cold" storage. PBS likes high IOPS drives for the meta-data but I do run PBS in a container on (every) PVE and use HDDs for the datastore. It provides fast enough local backups that can easily be restored but I also make sure to sync that PBS to other PBS systems that are off-site.

ok, thank you,, I like that.
I haven't yet investigated(worked with) PBS, but I should accelerate that . thank you
