i am not a security or network specialist, but i want to install pfsense in an kvm on my proxmox 2.3. my initial idea is to use a second nic for the wan/internet and the first for my internal clients. now after some searching i saw that i can also use the one nic for routing and firewalling. the second nic is an usb2 100mbit adapter which i will use for the wan. the question is now a) which would be the better common way for performance, security and administration? in this way i would think 2 nics are a common and better way, but its only a feeling without any productiv or testing knowledge. hope you can help an light into the darkness
