I'm running several HP Proliant with PVE2.3 and use the HPSM and all the tiny tools provided by HP.
here's a overview I recently found - well its in german : http://www.hweidner.de/redmine/projects/pub/wiki/ProliantMonitoring

I just added the following resources to my source.list:

# HP Management Software
deb [URL]http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/downloads/ProLiantSupportPack/Debian[/URL] squeeze/current non-free
deb [URL]http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/psp/[/URL] lenny current/non-free

The lenny source is for the HPSM, I guess there is no dedicated source for Squeeze.

I'm operating several HP Proliants, therefore I'm using the HP Systems Insight Manager for data gathering and Mail/SMS Notification.

I'm running the HP SIM not on linux.

Btw : the installation of the HPSM failed to work on Proxmox 3.0. There are new binaries necessary for Debian 7, which are currently not officially available ! I receive a semgentation fault when I start the hpsmh.
It seems, that they are working on new packages for Wheezy, but currently available in a restricted area where just developer have access.

follow up on the HPSMH

HP provide since a few days .dep's for wheezy and works nicely with the latest PROXMOX 3.1

echo "deb http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/repo/mcp wheezy/current non-free" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hp.list

import the apt-key

wget -O - http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/repo/mcp/GPG-KEY-mcp | apt-key add -

apt-get install the packages you need
