I'm wondering if it is possible to run Proxmox VE on an Intel Pentium G2020 CPU (2.9GHz) with 4GB RAM and 250GB HDD.
Preferably booting it from a USB so I can use the full 250GB HDD as storage for the single VM I wish to manage through Proxmox VE.

The VM will be a Ubuntu Server 24.x, which is currently running on this system, but managing it remotely is troublesome.
So I hope that using Proxmox VE as management system for the Ubuntu Server will make managing it a lot easier.

Does it run Ubuntu 24.04 LTS? Then probably Proxmox VE runs also. 4GB leaves 2GB for a VM and you probably won't enjoy it. Also running Proxmox from USB is a bad idea, as threads on this forum will tell you (since Proxmox logs a lot and USB sticks have low quality flash memory). Running a single VM on a clustered enterprise hypervisor sounds counter productive. Do what you want, but I fear this approach will make you even more unhappy.

Thanks for your honest advice, much appreciated.
