I've failed to install Proxmox VE 9.1 on Dell PowerEdge R630. I have the same issue on normal and debugging mode ... is stuck on "dev to be fully populated" and also tried the famous workaround that is adding nomodeset without any success...I only can reach to the debugging prompt but as soon i press CTRL D to continue the startup the issue happens again.

[SOLVED] Thread 'Dell PowerEdge R630 reboots immediately on kernel 6.17.2-2-pve (PWR2262 / CPU0704 / UEFI0078)'

Hi,
I’m experiencing an issue booting the new Proxmox kernel 6.17.2-2-pve on a Dell PowerEdge R630.
The system boots perfectly with kernel 6.14.11-4-pve, but kernel 6.17 reboots instantly before reaching a shell.

This looks like a platform-specific regression affecting Dell 13G servers (R630/R730), so I’d like to provide details and check with the Proxmox kernel maintainers.

Hardware / Firmware
Server: Dell PowerEdge R630
CPUs: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 v3
BIOS: 2.19.0

Working Kernel, Boots normally, stable: Linux pve1 6.14.11-4-pve #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC PMX 6.14.11-4

On 13G Dells PVE hosts running 6.17.2-2 kernel. I have UEFI, Secure Boot, X2APIC, I/OAT DMA enabled. I do NOT have SR-IOV enabled.
 
Hi everybody and thanks for this usefull topic.
The workaroud worked for me so well.

But that solution makes another kind of issue for me.

We have a cluster of 3 nodes, and this happens in only one. We aplied the fix, node works fine with Proxmox 9.1, but virtual machines can not migrate "live" in or out of this node.

I guess this is due to changes in BIOS to solve the issue. That makes CPUs no to use exactly the same kind of microcode.

Can anyone confirm this?
