Proxmox VE 7.4-17 - Unable to activate/mount pve1 after apt update/upgrade

I tried to run sudo apt-get update from shell then also ran apt-get upgrade.
Then rebooted.

When the system came back up:
1. /mnt/pve/<name-of-storage> was not able to mount.
2. unable to run VMs

Error: pvestatd[1160]: unable to activate storage '<name-of-storage>' - directory is expected to be a mount point but is not mounted:
'/mnt/pve/<name-of-storage>

Please if you may advise what could be the reason.

Never run apt upgrade on Proxmox (see all the problem threads about it on this forum). Always use apt dist-upgrade or the web GUI: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#_system_software_updates.

Thanks leesteken. I failed that step. Thanks for sharing the docs. So what would be a solution in this case. How do I recover my VMS/Storage, based on the above?
