Hi

This is my first time trying proxmox or any kind of KVM and I have never tried to setup passthrough before. I would greatly appreciate some help.
I built a new pc as a lab/living room gaming station. My hope and plan was to:
  • Pass GPU & 1 pair of keyboard/mice to windows 10 VM, only turn it on when I want to play games.
  • Pass Intel HDMI port to a kodi flavor VM or CT and watch movies on tv
  • Run small linux VM's or CT's to play around with and host web-server's etc
I checked before buying the parts that they were VT-d capable but I guess I should have read deeper into GPU passthrough before buying a skylake CPU since it doesn't seem to be the best choice.
Are my three above wishes possible?

Anyway I have gone through the guide in the wiki.
But I'm stuck at a certain point and don't understand what to do next. Other guides on the net like VFIO tips and tricks don't have the same steps so I have stuck to the proxmox guide.

  1. Turned on VT-d in the bios
  2. Done the "Intel CPU" part and updated grub
  3. Added required modules
  4. Check that IOMMU interrupt remapping is supported, and it is.
  5. Verified IOMMU isolation and I get the exact same output as the guide with all the devices listed.
  6. Then I don't understand if I should edit the node.conf file (doesn't exist in that DIR) with
hostpci0: 01:00.0 or not but I jumped strait to "GPU PASSTHROUGH".
  7. "GPU PASSTHROUGH" - Edited /etc/modprobe.d/vfio.conf with options vfio-pci ids=10de:1380,10de:0fbc
  8. Created the blacklist.conf file and blacklisted radeon, nouveau and nvidia.
Now I'm suppose to choose one of the 4 VM configuration alternatives but I don't understand what code to paste where or anything?? I guess I should go with
"GPU OVMF PCI EXPRESS PASSTHROUGH" but the wiki doesn't explain what to do next.
I would appreciate some help to a lost beginner in this.

My parts are:

  • Asus H110M-A micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
  • 16Gb DDR4
  • 240GB SSD
  • MSI Geforce GTX 750 Ti 2Gb video card
