I'm among the happy Proxmox users for quite some time. I'm so confident in Proxmox that i didn't check the competition for quite some time too 
but still has some wishes that i see in the competitors these days. One of them is OpenNode you well know for a long time and it brings (sometimes will) some things some would like to see in Proxmox.
Some of these features are already announced in the quite excellent Proxmox roadmap (impressive by the way, easy to understand it will be split in 2 or 3 releases). Now, for several others interesting features that would be welcome :
- Automated softraid setup
- Automated host node bridge networking setup for openvz and kvm
- ZenOSS or Zabbix NMS integration for statistics, trending, alerting and SLA monitoring
- Clone a vm.
- Open Virtual Machine Format (OVF) support. It were announced in forum but didn't see it in the roadmap
- LXC support but i heard in forum that that will be tested once release 2 is reached. It will be tested for maturity, maybe why we don't see it in the roadmap.
- Automated PXE installs
- Open vSwitch integration http://openvswitch.org/
Firewall has been deleted from the roadmap and delayed. In the meantime we can use our own UTM or dedicated firewall physical server.
If firewall plan effectively come back into Proxmox roadmap, i suggest these security resources :
- Advanced Policy Firewall http://www.rfxn.com/projects/advanced-policy-firewall/
- Brute Force Detection http://www.rfxn.com/projects/brute-force-detection/
- anti-DDOS http://www.inetbase.com/scripts/ddos/
