Hello All,

Based on https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage_Replication it appears replication only supports on ZFS. Currently we already have PBS on all our VMs but backup is done every 24 hours and the reason we set that is we noticed when backup started, VMs would not be able usable in a lock state or something.

Is there anyway to replicate via Proxmox GUI itself if underlying storage is ceph and not proxmox?

If that is not possible i guess the last option is https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Ceph_RBD_Mirroring

Keep in mind, that the Replication integrated in the Web UI is only for replication between nodes in the same cluster. For example if you don't want/can use Ceph, a network share, etc. Then you can use local ZFS and achieve data redundancy (async) across nodes with the replication.

For DR to a different site, the RBD mirroring is one option. If backups with the PBS + remote sync to the DR PBS is not an option due to VMs being slow on backups, you might want to investigate why that is the case.

If the network to the local PBS or the storage on the PBS is the reason, consider enabling "fleecing" for the backup jobs. This can improve the performance of the VMs during the backup.
