Hello all :)

I'm planning to use Proxmox on a server with NVME drives and a hardware raid controller. While ZFS and CEPH does work well with such setup i'm looking into alternative solutions. Would BTRFS on LVM be a better solution or should i just replace the raid controller with plain HBA?

ok...

While ZFS and CEPH does work well with such setup
they dont. neither zfs nor ceph likes to be on hardware raid luns. ceph also needs multiple servers.

Would BTRFS on LVM be a better solution
should be fine; you'll get inline compression and snapshot capabilities.
or should i just replace the raid controller with plain HBA?
nvme drives dont need hbas. you just plug them into pci lanes directly.
