Hello.
I figured i need to make a thread somewhere to get some help.
I bought a N100 minipc a year ago, hoping to run proxmox, HA, OPNsense and jellyfin(or similar). I'm a windows user, not a linux user, so i guess this is WAY to ambitious of me. I figured there are alot of guides and youtube videos etc that could guide me through it. But that doesnt work when issues arrive. And i've had lots of issues.
When i installed proxmox i was using another ISP. I installed it with a static ip address, as that was what the guide i followed said i had to do. So when i switched ISP proxmox shat the bed, i tried asking for help on reddit and googling and looking for guides to change the IP address. Somehow i fucked it up and gave up and reinstalled proxmox instead.
So i got it running again. But the new ISP locks down everything. I can hardly do anything with my "own" network. So i dont know why, but proxmox and HA worked as long as i unplugged the wifi.
But if both wifi and n100 are connected they both shit the bed after a while.
ISP uses a Genexis FiberTwist (FT1). Its a fiber modem and 4 port router.
And for wifi they gave me a Zyxel WX5600.
I gave up on that so i bought a new wireless router and put the modem into bridge mode.
So now the setup is FT1 in bridge mode -> Tp link BE9300
PC is wired into port 1
n100 is wired into port2
But now, proxmox isnt working properly again.
Ive been getting help from chatgpt. It helped me change the ip address, twice. But this time i just cant connect to it via web browser. So its a pain trying to fix it via the terminal. (cant copy paste)
Its so frustrating. Do i have to reinstall proxmox everytime i make a network change? If so iguess i have to stick with this new router until i die....
Twice ive installed HA too now. But i havent dared to start using it until all my network/hardware issues have been solved.
I need help...
Edit: I've changed the ip address and gateway to match the old router. (From 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.10.1)
And changed back from public to private network on my pc since windows changed that with the new router.
N100 and pc can ping eachother.
It looks like its pveproxy that just refuse to work on the new router. I dont understand why.
Edit2: Fuck it, im just going to nuke pveproxy. Looks like im heading towards a reinstall anyways.
Ive tried getting new ssl certificates, ive checked that 8006 isnt blocked. And tried different network settings.
Proxmox can ping my pc and vice versa. It can ping 8.8.8.8. but pveproxy refuses to work.
Edit3: Omg, that didnt work either.
Edit4: Found https://web-wilke.de/fix-proxmox-error-after-hostname-ip-change/. I have exactly this issue.
However, guess what? Trying to follow that threw a new issue right at the first step. "hostnamectl set-hostname $YOURHOSTNAME" returned "too few arguments!
Whatever that means...
Edit5: Got help from chatgpt to change hostname. Waste of time. Didnt resolve anything. Still getting connection refused.
Edit6: I give up. ill just reinstall again...
