Two things i would like to see in proxmox
first i would like to see some sort of java ssh applet in the proxmox gui that is for the purpose of logging to the host machine, i know use putty blah blah blah!
Im a Ubuntu user i have a proper shell, but this didn't stop me locking myself out of a distant proxmox the other week went my routedown was not correctly configured in shorewall config (my fault i know )
I had to request the data center reinstall the host machine.
A simple java applet would have prevented this and i would have been able to remove the offending rule. The smothwall firewall have this but i guess not for my purpose. which brings my onto the other thing that gets me about proxmox.
why port 22 ,80 and 443 ?? for proxmox i would like to see http, https, and ssh on another port ssh on 222 http on say port 81 and maybe 445 for https.
If you run nat it make things very complex for routing,
My machines on my 10.1.1.0 subnet use the proxmox host for there external ip addresses and shorewall routes the packets to the internal ip 10.1.1.2 which is a webserver for example.
I know you can use other external ip to do this also but it gets more messy
so the port forward is like this for the webserver on 10.1.1.2:80
PROXMOX HOST IS 212.1**.174.65
212.117.174.65:80 to 10.1.1.2:80
Thats fine but if the machine at 10.1.1.2 want to switch to ssl you end up at the proxmox login screen on port 212.1**.174.65:443
it is the same for ssh on 10.1.1.2
I know there are ways around this, and i have read the roadmap also regarding a firewall.
I think this would be a small change to make and anyways im guessing it will be the same problem when a firewall is shipped with Promox later on anyways.
I hope i have made myself clear
I love proxmox it's a great environment to work with.
