Proxmox Passthrough Entire Server

Is it possible to passthrough an entire server but have proxmox manage it through the cluster and use shared storage?

hi,

what exactly are you trying to achieve?
you can passthrough single devices (e.g., a disk/pci device/usb device/etc.)

We have an 8 GPU server that has just been delivered, We run a small cluster with 4 nodes atm we passthrough 1-2 GPUs currently.
With the new server im hesitant to passthrough 8 GPUs to a VM, We have a software dev team who runs tests on various OSs and its easy with proxmox to have fresh dev environments as templates and we want to be able to use the templates with the new servers.

Would you think i try passing through the 8 GPUs?

there is currently a limit of the number of pci passthrough devices of 4 per vm (altough you can add more with the 'args' parameter)
but aside from that, i do not see any problems with passing through your gpus

@dcsapak wrote that it is the limit in the PVE GUI, so you can have as many as your hardware can support.
