Hi guys

I am new to Proxmox having used Xenserver for a short while.
We are taking a dedicated server with our Host, however they will only give us one port to their switch.
This leaves me with only one nic for management etc. How can I best secure my proxmox. I was thinking of installing Vyos as a VM and then only allowing access to the Host via the vm, but I read in another thread that this is not recommended.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks
Kimmy

Hi Kimmy,

there is nothing wrong with making the hosts accessable via a vm on the host itself. I do this myself. But you should always have a backup method of connecting in case the vm fails, which in my case is IPMI via vpn from a vm outside my cluster.

Kind regards
