I have an N100 mini pc which I have had had Proxmox up an running for a good 10 months no issue at all, then suddenly yesterday it just switched itself off.
No changes were made to the system prior.

When power the pc back on it shows the grub menu the first option selected

It then proceeds to boot...

Loading Linux 6.5.11-4-pve...
Loading initial ramdisk....

then it switches off

I tried the advanced boot and then selecting the recovery mode but the same thing happens.

Please can you help?

Reinstall and restore your VMs/LXC from Backup...

Yes, I believe this will be the fastest way to recover except the Hardware itself has no issues....

Sorry I am new to Proxmox, so setting up took a bit of time, so I would really like to avoid that if possible
Is this a common thing, will this happen again?

No absolutely not. In 5 years PVE had never a non booting PVE. But this does not mean it can't happen.

So...
  1. Re-install Proxmox
  2. Connect to gdrive using rclone
  3. restore config
  4. restore vm's and containers

I created a bootable proxmox USB.
I thought I would just run a memtest before I do the install... the memtest crashed after about 30 secs... and the PC turned off

So... I am assuming the RAM is the culprit?

So replace RAM and check if system boots again, if not reinstall and restore from backup....
