[SOLVED] Proxmox lost all NICs

On 1 server (running proxmox 4.4), we lost all of our NICs (all 5 of them), which are no longer even seen by ifconfig (/etc/network/interfaces cannot be read). We booted the server with a live-cd and there, all NICs were working properly, could be configured and ping other machines on the networks.

On a second server (also running proxmox 4.4), 4 out of 5 NICs are okay, the remaining one getting it's static IP but cannot ping any other machines on the network. Same thing, it works when trying from a live-cd.

The 3 remaining hypervisors can access the networks normally, so we are able to manually move the vms until the issue is resolved.

Both issues occurred roughly at the same time this morning. Any suggestion as to how we could troubleshoot this?

Problem solved.

It turned out there was a problem with the network cables and switch. We unplugged/plugged back the cables a number of times before we could get a stable connection. Some (new) cables had to be changed.
