I install Proxmox 1.5 on a HP DC 7800 with 8 GByte RAM and a 2 TByte HD. The install is very slow and lasts already over 1 hour. on the monitor shows "creating data filesystem" ...19%....20%.........23% ........ (after 1 hour).

Is this normal?

I'm a newbie. who can I find or search the trouble?

PS.: I had two PCs HP DC 7800 with the same configuration and both are slow.

The first thing I would try is to return the box's BIOS settings to default.

Sometimes setting something there to a "compatible" mode will slow things down terribly.

There are 2 of the same machines? Sounds like you could have a nice failover setup once you're through this little speedbump. :)

There are some friendly people in the #linuxhelp channel on freenode who help me on occasion.

Does another distro behave the same? Try a Debian CD?

Did the ProxmoxVE CD verify that it burned correctly? Try using ImgBurn, a freeware app that checks for errors automatically.
