Hello,
so I am new to the proxmox stuff and was trying to set up a ubuntu vm that could use the installed gpu (rx470) after following a turtorial for this the server doesn't even turn on.
this is what I did:

And this is what it says in the recovery mode now:

Please help me save the server and then with the passthrough

Your "turtorial" is obviously old and not targeted to PVE 8.3. Most of what you added to GRUB is now nonsense or outdated. Or are you running an outdated version?
A RX470 probably requires vendor-reset; did you install it and set it up for a device_specific reset?
I'm not sure what you mean by "doesn't boot". Is the photo of the display from booting the Proxmox host?
Maybe undo your changes or reinstall Proxmox and restore your VM/CTs from backup and try again with an up-to-date guide or the Proxmox VE 8.3 manual/wiki?

Installed proxmox is the new version. I did not do anything to the gpu just popped it in there and hoped for the best... By not booting i mean that it stays here for a long time like 10 15 minutes and nothing. How can i undo changes if I cant even get there through rescue and recovery mode... Should I try with Live linux from the USB. The "turtorial" was using like 8.1 proxmox, from march 2024....

Installed proxmox is the new versio.
But you are using an outdated tutorial/guide.

This is known to break the network configuration, which might make it look like Proxmox is not starting. Lots of threads about this on the forum
This is hard to debug and fix when you prevent Proxmox from using the (i)GPU that you want to passthrough.

What is here? Is it the photo of the display? Maybe it boots fine but the network configuration does not match the hardware after adding the GPU.

Maybe "unpop" the GPU and see if you can reach the Proxmox host from the network again.
Or login to the Proxmox host console (using a physical keyboard and display) and fix the network configuration with the GPU "popped in". Lots of threads about this on this forum. Use ip a to find the new network device name and adjust /etc/network/interfaces accordingly.

But the gpu was in there from the start... Now I just wanted to pass it through to the VM.

This is the photo of a display that is connected directly to the host.

As I said this is directly on the host not over the internet.... so yeah... It doesn't even show as online on the network.....

Okay, I misunderstood you "popping in" the GPU as doing it after Proxmox was installed.

Can you login to the Proxmox host using that display and a keyboard?

Would you consider reinstalling Proxmox and restoring theVMs/CTs from backups? That might be (much) easier to get passthrough workiung (using the up to date manual and verdor-reset).

yeah no problem...

no, as I said it stays here for ever.. i turned it off (cut the power) and on a few times and it stopped even sooner.

I don't think I set up the backups but the only thing I actually need is unifi controller which can be done with helper scripts so....
