Hello everyone,
this is the second time in two months (on two different nodes) that proxmox deletes the virtual disk and its directory of a vm.
The virtual disk is on a local disk of the node.
Why does this happen?
I managed to recover a disk because the machine was on (following this thread: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/deleted-image-of-running-vm.9258/ ) but for the second one (which was off) I lost everything.
I repeat: why does this happen?
thanks to everyone.....

Hi @augusto baldi.
You've reached a conclusion that you'd like the community to explain, but you haven't provided any supporting facts or details.

As far as I know, there is no function in PVE that arbitrarily deletes disks. Here are some key areas you should review and investigate:
  • PVE version
  • Output of: debsums -ac
  • VM configuration of the affected VM
  • List of all VMs on the system
  • Potentially, configurations of other VMs
  • Log entries from the time of the suspected event
  • If no evidence is found, check older log entries as far back as possible
  • Storage configuration
There may be other factors to consider as well. Ultimately, since you have access to the system, you're in the best position to gather and share useful information.
