Hi,
I use proxmox to run some VM with HomeAssistant, Truenas, RouterOs, Unifi server on a Lenovo m900
If I'll buy another minipc which is the benefit of a cluster ?

thanks

For a cluster you need three devices. (The third one may be a smaller/cheaper/virtual "Quorum"-Device, search for it.)

A cluster allows to establish redundancy. For me this is the main aspect.

With this you can (for example) make sure that your HomeAssistant/RouterOS/etc still is available when the Mini PC it is currently running on dies. This might me important if HA is the only way to turn on the light or the TV or to lock some doors ;-)

No, this is not the point of cluster. You are searching of something like parallel-processing cluster, which is much-much more complex

The only thing you'll get with clustering two machines is data replication. You can't actually use the HA functionality.

and about performance ? no increase ?is it possible to use the cpu power in parallel ?
Sure.

You baught a second car. Now you can drive twice as fast.

Oh, wait...

Scnr ;-)

There are ways to create a parallel-computing cluster with Linux. Most supercomputers these days are built that way. The thing is, your applications need to be written to take advantage of it by using a library like MPI to distribute the work. Most off-the-shelf software can't take advantage of such a cluster.
