Proxmox Boot Drive Recovery - Cluster

I have a small 3 node Proxmox/CEPH cluster in which I had the Proxmox boot drive fail on one of the units.

Despite this, all the virtual machines continued running, and the CEPH portion continued running. I have since been able to shutdown the virtual machines and migrate them to the other nodes in the cluster.

I was curious if there would be any method of recovering the node that has a failed boot drive without actually fully taking it offline.
eg. install proxmox on a new drive on a standalone machine and modify the config files to match what they should be and then swap the drive

Or if anyone has any other recommendations before I simply pull the unit and begin with the remove node procedure and a new install back in.
