Hello everyone,
We’re running a Proxmox Backup Server (version 3.3.3) and recently encountered an issue where our datastore has reached 100% usage.
Here are the details:
We currently don’t have additional storage to expand this datastore. I’ve looked into pruning and garbage collection, but since the storage is completely full, I’m not sure about the safest way to proceed without breaking existing backups. Please find attached image for the reference.
Questions:
Thanks in advance!
We’re running a Proxmox Backup Server (version 3.3.3) and recently encountered an issue where our datastore has reached 100% usage.
Here are the details:
- Datastore name: cpl-backup
- Path: /mnt/datastore/cpl-backup
- Usage: 100% (13.56 TB of 13.56 TB)
- Backup Count:
- CT: 2 groups, 2 snapshots
- Host: 0 groups, 0 snapshots
- VM: 5 groups, 5 snapshots
- Deduplication Factor: 1.00
We currently don’t have additional storage to expand this datastore. I’ve looked into pruning and garbage collection, but since the storage is completely full, I’m not sure about the safest way to proceed without breaking existing backups. Please find attached image for the reference.
Questions:
- What’s the recommended way to safely clear up space when a datastore is completely full?
- Can I manually delete old VM or CT groups via the UI before running Garbage Collection?
- Is there any temporary workaround to free enough space to allow pruning and GC to run successfully?
Thanks in advance!
